Reiki is an energy therapy that uses universal life energy. It works together with the body’s innate healing capabilities, and helps to promote and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Reiki restores balance on the physical, mental, and emotional levels, and complements other forms of treatment or therapy that one may be undergoing.
Elaine Victoria Yang is a Usui Reiki Teacher trained under The Reiki Centre Singapore, and has been teaching since 2012. She has been a Reiki healer since 2011, and was the principal healer at The Reiki Centre from 2011 – 2015. Elaine introduced Crystal Bowl Sound healing into her practice in 2016, after experiencing how the sacred sound vibrations complement and deepen a Reiki session, in a retreat that she was co-facilitating in Numinbah Valley, Australia.
Elaine had spent many years in the corporate world as a HR professional, before she found Reiki when she was dealing with stress and health issues, and was seeking a way of healing and balance for herself. Reiki has helped Elaine not only with her physical ailments, but has also shown her the way to more peace, awareness, and clarity in her life. She is an Reiki Centre Affiliate teacher, and conducts Reiki workshops in both English and Mandarin. Elaine offers private Reiki healing and Reiki Sound healing sessions, as well Reiki healing for dogs and cats. She also collaborates with various teachers and facilitators who offer different healing modalities like yoga and meditation, to co-create sessions that incorporates crystal sound healing; for instance, she co-facilitates regular Yoga-Meditation-Sound hybrid workshops and Breath and Sound evenings.
Elaine’s work as a healer and teacher is to empower those who come to her. She shines a light where it is needed, so her clients and students see how they can heal themselves, through Reiki and awareness. Elaine opens the door for her clients to gain insight in her healing sessions, and to connect with their authentic self.

What happens in a Reiki session?
In a Reiki healing session, the practitioner places her hands on different areas of the recipient’s body, and Reiki transfers from their hands into the body.
Our body has an innate healing wisdom, so when Reiki is passed on from the practitioner’s hands into your body, your body takes over and your healing begins.
There are no side effects to receiving Reiki, and most people feel a sense of balance, peace and calm after receiving a Reiki treatment. As part of a natural healing process though, a small number of people may experience some detox after receiving treatments – it is definitely a good thing though; better out than in!
We generally recommend a series of 3 sessions so that the healing process is accelerated and is as smooth as possible. This will also ensure that any detox that may happen is well supported by the Reiki treatments. Ideally, the sessions should be done within a period of 10 to 14 days where possible. For those who have chronic conditions or specific ailments, a series of treatments over a period of time will be required to see significant results.
How does it feel like receiving a Reiki session?
A Reiki session is a unique experience for everyone, but you may feel certain sensations when receiving Reiki. Common sensations are heat, tingling, pulsing, or a sense of a energy flow in the body, just to name a few. Some people feel no sensation of any kind at all. Sensations – or the absence of it – simply relate to the person’s sensitivity to energy; Reiki flows regardless of whether you feel it or not.
The Effectiveness of Reiki
The effects of Reiki are cumulative. The more Reiki you do, the more improvements you will see in various areas that go beyond the mere alleviation of physical ailments – they include mental and emotional balance, and personal growth in many ways – you do gain a better sense of self-awareness when you’re more balanced! It is thus very empowering to take your healing into your own hands (literally in this case!), and learn Reiki so you can incorporate it into your everyday life. Very much like the peeling of the onion, the healing happens layer by layer. You reap your benefits depending on how much you put in; the more Reiki you do for yourself, the deeper your healing can be.
