Definitely the number one question I get from clients, this question, to me, becomes a rhetorical one after understanding how Reiki works.

First and foremost, it is paramount to note that Reiki is NOT meant to replace any medication or therapies, or anything advised by your doctor. Reiki aids in getting our physical, mental and emotional self back in balance, and it accelerates your body’s natural healing process – Reiki does not take your migraines like taking 2 panadol tablets does, though reiki does help with pain management. Instead, Reiki heals you holistically.

The amazing thing that I have found with Reiki is that you need not worry about how the healing is going to take place, where it is going to start – your body works with Reiki to take care of that. Reiki always goes to where it is needed the most – which very often is different from where we believe the problem to be. Two people may both be suffering from stress, but their healing journeys can be completely different, with different timeframes – simply because the root cause / causes for the stress are unlikely to be the same. We all lead very different lives after all!

I will highlight two case studies from my clients to illustrate the above.  The clients have very different lifestyles, and both came for reiki healing sessions due to stress.

After a couple of sessions, Client A reported that she was starting to ‘sleep like a baby’ – she previously had problems having quality slumbers, and her body had so adjusted to her sleep patterns, that it had never occurred to her that sleeping better was exactly what she needed to help her manage stressful situations better.

Client B reported that he noticed when things went wrong at work, he was no longer ‘barking orders’ and getting frustrated – instead, he was able to give clear instructions without becoming emotionally involved – he hadn’t even realize before that he was affected emotionally!

As Reiki practitioners, we simply act as a funnel for reiki to flow– our clients do their own healing, in their own unique ways, in their own time.

Someone once told me something that truly resonated with me: Healing doesn’t mean that stressful situations and problems and chaos don’t come up anymore – that is life. True healing happens when you are able to manage the curveballs that life throws your way.

And that, is where Reiki can be a lovely tool for you 🙂
